Haven't headed out fishing for a long time due to my tight work schedule. However, today I employed a Japanese-style fishing approach giving a try at Pier Bang Pho. To my surprise, good-size red-tail catfish hooked! What a sweet catch! Laugh

Hey Bangkokhooker, thanks a lot man! I was just so lucky to hook that Asian Redtail catfish. :D Yes.. that is my baitcaster rod…ya know what? That's a funny story… I was in a rush out for fishing there by Bang Pho Pier…and I found myself grabbing a wrong rod accidentally   Surprised    then..I just went like…"what the heck.."but still gave a tryCool  Keep trying somewhere else by Chaophraya river.

Hi,

Congratulations, it is amazing catch in wild !

But what a strange fishing gear you have, a casting rod + fly fishing reel Surprised

And on the pics, looks like you have nylon on the reel instead of fly line, it worked well for you but cannot imagine how you managed your cast… do you have a secret ? Wink

Hi Axel, sorry for replying back to you so late. Yeah, I use nylon on the reel instead of fly line for casting, and it's a bit difficult to do the cast. However, I add slight oil as lubricant on my nylon line to smoothen my cast. But I agree with you, fly line is so much better without any doubt.

Hi,

in fact, using nylon and casting rod, would say better to use casting reel instead of fly fishing reel, no ?

What kind of lure did you use to catch the red tail, a fly or hard lure ???
