Description: New Paytai is the essential pole fishing pond in Bangkok. All the big competitions for pole fishing are usually hosted right here. The fish here are fed nothing but bread and fishermen must buy the bait there. The fishing park provides a tackle shop fully-stocked with everything one needs for pole fishing here. Everything from the rods, rod holders to the umbrellas are for sale here. Just try to call in advance tho because sometimes some items may be out. It’s better to be safe than sorry.

There are two ponds here, one for bait fishing that is predominantly stocked with striped catfish and various other species. The pole fishing pond has the larger variety of species.

Competitions here are usually held on the last Sunday of the month while sponsored competitions can be on any given Sunday so once again call to make sure.

The fishing here is fantastic and any skilled pole fisherman can easily go home happy after catching fish all day.

Tackle information: The fishermen here are mostly equipped with poles of 5.4m long attached with a safety line just in case something big takes the bait. Some of the targets here can be over 10kg in weight but they are mostly ranging from 1-3kg.

Pond  difficulty: Easy, if you know how to pole fish as the ponds are quite stocked.

Had an excellent weekend with my son and his buddies at the New Paytai pond. We were pretty much always catching fish.

Fun fishing & good staff. Recommend for anyone who’s interested in an enjoyable day without much hassle.

Just been to New Paytai, couldn’t find anyone fishing or an office. An old Thai fella said the ponds are being filled in and houses being build.
    Went to Sakuna instead.
