Question: what does Bali, New Delhi and Khao Laem reservoir have in common?
Answer: they all take four hours to get to from Bangkok. Whereas Bali and New Delhi have to be reached by flights the only way to get to Khao Laem from Bangkok is a long drive from the capital, which is one of the reasons why I’m not the biggest fan of there when I have several other reservoirs to go to within shorter distances. At least, it doesn’t cost as much as a flight to Bali and New Delhi. But then, why travel so much further? There’s a couple of reason actually. Firstly, it’s absolutely beautiful, secondly, it’s three times the size of any other reservoir and is filled with plenty of fish. Although unlike reservoirs like Kaeng Krajan, catch and release isn’t as well practiced and the region is notorious for electric fishing and other forms of unethical fishing practices. Regardless, the reservoir is still huge enough to have plenty of fish and my buddy, Kevin, from Malaysia was in Thailand for a fishing trip.
So in total there was Ae Suksamran from Kaeng Krajan, Kris, Kevin and myself onboard for this fishing trip. It was tiring as hell but also one of the best trips we’ve had in a while. Here’s the video link below.
